Do any Harry Potter characters have ADHD?
Luna Lovegood
Luna Lovegood, from J.K. Rowling's beloved Harry Potter series, is a dreamy example of inattentive ADHD. Even when captured by members of the Inquisitorial Squad, she stares out the window, distracted. Because of her spacey demeanor and blunt honesty, she sometimes has trouble making friends.
Patients often see multiple doctors before they get their headaches diagnosed – and Harry Potter, it turns out, is no exception. Back in 2007 a leading headache specialist, after poring through Harry's headache history, concluded that the boy's intermittent stabbing head pain must be due to migraines.
- Harry has PTSD following Cedric's murder, and some depression following Sirius's death.
- Draco Malfoy seems to suffer nervous breakdowns during his attempt at murdering Dumbledore.
- Sirius has depression during OotP, and is perhaps mildly alcoholic.
- Trelawney is also an acoholic.
7. Hermione Granger - Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. Hermione Granger is the model student, but her obsession with rules regulations and exams could be an indicator of disordered thinking.
Since Emma Watson was diagnosed with combined/hyperactive type ADHD herself as a child, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that she may have brought some of these traits to her stellar portrayal of Hermione, which launched her acting career and endeared her to millions of fans around the world.
Hermione Granger - Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder Not to be confused with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCPD less toward repetition and ritual like that found in OCD patients, but rather has deeper set roots in the person's personality and traits.
The entire Harry Potter series is an extended metaphor about a boy with severe mental illness, suffering from delusions. Everything depicted in the movie can be interpreted as attempts to cope with the harsh realities of his confinement in a mental institution.
In his new memoir, Prince Harry talks about his mental health struggles. In particular, he mentions dealing with agoraphobia. About 1.3% of adults in the U.S. have agoraphobia.
Eddie Redmayne himself has said in interviews that he feels that Newt probably has Asperger's syndrome based on how JK Rowling described Newt's mannerisms to him, but would have unlikely been diagnosed as the films take place in the 1920's long before Kanner and Asperger first published their work on autism.
For Hermione, her boggart took the shape of a teacher, who informed her that she had failed all of her exams. It is not easy to diagnose someone without meeting them. Based on what I've read in the books and what I've seen in the movies, it seems likely that Hermione might have obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
What mental disorder does Voldemort have?
On Lord Voldemort as a psychopath or sociopath
So psychopaths and sociopaths share a lot in common: they both disregard social norms, they disregard the rights of others, they often physically bully others or torture animals as children. Voldemort certainly did that.
He admitted in their talk that his personal therapist had diagnosed him with PTSD, at least. He connected the diagnosis to past drug use, saying cocaine did nothing for him, but marijuana “really helped” him mentally. “Marijuana is different, that actually really did help me,” he explained.
Myrtle was “often upset so badly that she tried to kill herself until she realised that she was already dead” (wiki). With all of those symptoms being met, it wouldn't be unreasonable to consider her as having a borderline personality disorder.
Severus Snape, on the other hand, deals with depression and grief. Being bullied as a child and the loss of his lady-love naturally make his life miserable.
The portrayal of Ron does a very good job of explaining what it would feel like to live with specific phobia and for the audience presents many realistic ideas about Arachnophobia. The books give good examples about what is going on with Ron's anxiety about the spiders and why he reacts to them in the way he does.
Best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" film series, Emma Watson has been vocal about her ADHD diagnosis. She has spoken about the challenges she faced while growing up and how she has learned to manage her symptoms.
Hermione's physical appearance in the books I have seen a lot of book readers saying Hermione is not at all attractive because she has bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth. Also the narrative/Harry doesn't refer to her as attractive.
It is possible that Hermione would have been made Head Girl had she returned to Hogwarts for her seventh year, and if Hogwarts had remained a place that she could go to. However, she chooses instead to accompany Harry to help him deal with Lord Voldemort.
Complex post-traumatic stress disorder is not a joke. Ginny was abused, possessed, and nearly killed—and that kind of trauma doesn't just evaporate into thin air.
Rowling has never publically stated that the character of Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody was inspired by anyone she knew with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but the resemblance is noticeable. A disabled veteran of the Persian Gulf War describes Moody as “a darned fine example of what happens to a good person…
What 16 personalities is Hermione?
A top student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hermione is a Logistician (ISTJ) personality type who loves school. Enthusiastic and perfectionistic, Hermione may have a bit of a reputation as a know-it-all, but she is motivated by a genuine desire to learn.
After being orphaned by Voldemort, Harry is then sent to live with his abusive relatives, the Dursleys, who starve him, and physically and emotionally abuse him. At the age of 11 Harry finds out that he is a wizard and is able to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
One can argue that Neville Longbottom, one of Harry Potter's classmates, might have social anxiety.
Harry goes through different stages of initiation into the adult world with all its conflicts and rivalries but also friendships. He stands up to his fears and symptoms resulting from his early childhood traumata and thereby helps to encourage readers of all ages to handle their own conflicts.
Radcliffe, who has a mild form of dyspraxia, knows the challenges it can bring. As a child, he had trouble with handwriting and tying his shoelaces. His early school years were very difficult because he was awful at “everything, with no discernible talent.”
“Schizotypal personality disorder
Other students would call her “Loony Lovegood” because of how out of place she usually was. Her emotions are generally subdued and she can tend to have an indifferent response to people.
In the half blood prince he was depressed because of the job thts Voldemort had told him to do; kill Dumbledore. And he was obviously anxious because he did not want to kill him, but he couldn't not do it, because he thought Voldemort would kill him if he didn't succeed.
When Ron loudly proclaims that Hermione is a nightmare as an explanation for her not having any friends, her overhearing him leads Hermione to cry in the bathroom alone. Hermione had never had many friends before Hogwarts, so loneliness was probably not that unfamiliar.
Slytherins, the home of dark witches and wizards anon, was linked with the Dark Triad: narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy. Interestingly, Rowling discusses this identification in the books, albeit indirectly.
Snape deviates from the normal wizard by having minimal emotions and a detachment from social relationships- making him fit the schizoid personality disorder criteria.
Why is Tom Riddle a psychopath?
While we do not know how her pregnancy developed, the prenatal stressors and perhaps a complicated birth due to her suppressed magic could have influenced Tom's brain development. Brain development or deviating brain structures are linked to psychopathy.
In his Apple TV series with Oprah Winfrey, The Me You Can't See, Prince Harry revealed some of his symptoms and triggers: “Panic attacks, severe anxiety. And 28 to probably 32 was a nightmare time in my life. From freaking out every single time I jump in the car and every single time that I see a camera.”
There's also an oval-shaped burn on the Boy Who Lived's chest, left by Salazar Slytherin's Locket. At the same time he was branded by the locket, Harry was bitten by the snake Nagini, too – and this presumably left a scar behind, as well.
Because of the events in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry is experiencing anger and depression. "Depression is a result of a deep sense of loss or repressed, pent-up anger." 1 Anyone who has ever lost someone or been through a horrific incident can very easily identify with Harry and his rage.
Voldemort is so lonely that he dispatches with even those closest to him. Although, Voldemort celebrates this ability (or rather inability to love), believing it's his greatest strength. Voldemort not only isolates himself from friendship and love, but death as well.
People who have sadistic personality disorder display aggression and cruel behavior. That all definitely sounds like Bellatrix. She murdered Dobby, Nymphadora Tonks, and Sirius Black. She tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom to the point of insanity, and their son Neville and Hermione Granger as well.
Maleficent, the evil lady from Sleeping Beauty is one of the evilest characters of Dinsey. She suffered from Borderline personality disorder (BPD) which means a person has inappropriate or extreme emotional reactions, is highly impulsive and has a history of unstable relationships.
Snape was in love with Lily and couldn't move on because of his guilt. Through his memories, it's revealed that he was worried about Harry's future when Lily and James died and that he was afraid of seeing Harry when he's old enough to attend Hogwarts.
The Reddit thread agrees Snape's Boggart may revolve around the person who mattered most to him: Lily Potter. Snape's unrequited love for Lily lead to his greatest fear coming true, a fact that wasn't revealed until The Deathly Hallows.
By speaking in spurts the way that he does, he is effectively resetting every couple of seconds, bringing his pitch and tone back to a baseline and keeping himself from allowing his intonations and affections to betray any sort of emotion.
Does Neville Longbottom have anxiety?
Neville appeared to suffer from a degree of post-traumatic stress disorder, as the torture of a spider via the cruciatus curse by Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise as Alastor Moody was enough to cause him a severe anxiety attack.
You can have an anxious disposition and be a Gryffindor
Some can be nervous or unsure of themselves and still belong there. Courage doesn't have to involve flashy or daring gestures. Bravery can be found in what appears to be smaller actions.
Since they had two children at the end we can be sure they did but if you're asking about having sex while still at Hogwarts then no. They kiss for the first time just before battle for Hogwarts and Ron, unlike Hermoine didn't go back to complete his 7th year. So all the sex was done later.
He struggles to form healthy relationships getting overly attached to people (like James) and forming his identity around them.
On Lord Voldemort as a psychopath or sociopath
So psychopaths and sociopaths share a lot in common: they both disregard social norms, they disregard the rights of others, they often physically bully others or torture animals as children. Voldemort certainly did that.
Ron doesn't canonically have bipolar disorder, but if you want him to, the world is your oyster. What he does have is low self-esteem (more like no self-esteem) and depression.
Anna, Frozen - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) The most popular character on this list is, of course, Anna from Disney's 2013 animated film Frozen. Anna is a perfect example of what it's like to have ADHD.
ADHD is also three times more common in males than females, and subtypes tend to have a different prevalence. Due to this discrepancy in the prevalence of ADHD among males and females, researchers have undertaken studies to explore the sex differences in ADHD and the possible cause of the discrepancy.
Males are almost three times more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than females. During their lifetimes, 13 percent of men will be diagnosed with ADHD. Just 4.2 percent of women will be diagnosed. The average age of ADHD diagnosis is 7 years old.
Walt Disney is thought to have had ADHD and also dropped out of school at a young age. He then went on to found the Disney empire.
Which movie stars have ADHD?
- Michael Phelps. ADHD made schoolwork difficult for Phelps when he was little. ...
- Karina Smirnoff. ...
- Howie Mandel. ...
- Ty Pennington. ...
- Adam Levine. ...
- Justin Timberlake. ...
- Paris Hilton. ...
- Simone Biles.
Famous People with ADHD: Simone Biles, Emma Watson, Johnny Depp, Channing Tatum.
Both Riddle and Voldemort match the three personality traits (malignant) narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy, aptly known as “The Dark Triad.” (For a deep dive: A Study in Evil: Voldemort, the Malignant Narcissist.)
“Schizotypal personality disorder
Luna Lovegood is known for being a little out there.
