The only thing Harry liked about his own appearance was a very thin scar on his forehead which was shaped like a bolt of lightning. He had had it as long as he could remember and the first question he could ever remember asking his Aunt Petunia was how he had got it.
The wand motion for casting the killing curse, Avada Kedavra, makes the same shape as Harry's scar, which is the curse Voldemort used on baby Harry. But also, it's much more cool for the protagonist of your fantasy novel to have a lightning shaped scar rather than a line or square.
Everyone knows Harry Potter for his lightning bolt scar, but fans of the series have uncovered that Harry's trademark feature might not be as familiar as we thought. Harry's scar is in fact not a lightning bolt, but the hand motion to cast Avada Kedavra.
Voldemort then killed Harry's mum Lily, who sacrificed her life to save her baby. The Dark Lord tried to use Avada Kedavra, or the killing curse, on Harry, but Lily's sacrifice caused the spell to backfire, leaving Harry unharmed, save for that scar on his forehead.

A Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Snape is hostile to Harry due to his resemblance to his father James Potter, who bullied Snape during their time together at Hogwarts. As the series progresses, Snape's character becomes more layered and enigmatic.
It wasn't Snape's presence at all. Harry's scar didn't hurt because Severus Snape looked at him. That's the impression he got in the first book, but actually his scar hurt not because Severus was looking at him, but because Voldemort was facing him - as he was inside Quirrel's head.
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
What does a scar symbolize?
A scar always represents pain endured. Pain is part of what it means to be human, and scars become silent proof of that humanity. For some, scars symbolize that life is full of pain and suffering that must be endured with strength and stoicism. It's no exaggeration, therefore, that to be human is to be scarred.
As for the official word from JK Rowling on Potter's uniquely-shaped scar, back in 2007 she revealed in a fan chat that she chose the lightning bolt shape because it was "cool". "I couldn't have my hero sport a doughnut-shaped scar," she added. Warner Bros.
It's not just a random lightning bolt (which almost seems too basic for Rowling, in a sense). It's the sign for the very spell that Voldemort used to kill Harry's parents, resulting in the scar on his forehead.
This theory suggests that each time he created a new Horcrux, that specific Horcrux diminished a part of his soul. Thus, his nose began to sink in, eventually disappearing altogether. Due to his tampering with dark magic, his human appearance evolved into a more snake-like state.
One of the three Unforgivable Curses outlawed under wizarding law, Avada Kedavra kills the victim on impact, instantaneously and painlessly, usually with a blinding flash of green light. There is no way to block the spell, and there is no counter-curse - it can only be dodged.
Phoenixes were semi-protected from the Killing Curse, due to them being immortal. In 1996, Fawkes swallowed one intended for Albus Dumbledore, causing him to burst into flame and die instantly. However, he then was reborn from his ashes. This makes phoenixes resistant to the Killing Curse.
In the Goblet of Fire book, the Avada Kedavra is described as unblockable. However, in the Deathly Hallows movie, Hermione blocks an Avada Kedavra curse aimed at her.
The reason is the absence of a morality system in the narrative. While there are no restrictions on what spells you can use, you are bound to an in-game path that prompts you to be on the good side. This means you cannot go rogue and cause havoc inside Hogwarts and have a bunch of Aurors chase you.
Avada Kedavra being the most powerful and dreadful of the 3 Unforgivable Curses, can be unlocked only very later on in the game. You need to complete the Quest Line of Sebastian Sallow, at the end of which, you'll be given the choice of wanting to learn the Killing Curse.
In the books Bellatrix is clearly playing with her food. And in her overconfidence Bellatrix fails to deflect, dodge or block an immediately lethal spell from Molly Weasley. If you'd like to explain film Bellatrix's actions overconfidence prevented her from using Abada Kedavra straight away.
Can only Slytherins speak Parseltongue?
To date, the ability to speak Parseltongue has been almost entirely associated with those who can show direct descent from Salazar Slytherin. Harry, it turns out, can speak Parseltongue, though he was apparently not born with that ability.
Knowing Parseltongue isn't quite the same as learning Spanish. Firstly, you don't so much learn it as just innately know it. The language is incredibly rare, as Harry is told countless times. The only place it isn't rare is within the bloodline of Salazar Slytherin himself – and as such, is usually hereditary.
Albus Dumbledore is not a true Parselmouth, as he can understand Parseltongue, but cannot speak it. Because this is — once again — a very rare skill, theories abound as to why the Hogwarts headmaster was able to understand the language of snakes.
Dumbledore reveals how thoroughly he loves Harry. Harry is brave, and Dumbledore is proud as any father would be. More than that, Dumbledore succumbs to a parent's weakness; he cares more about Harry's happiness and wellbeing than the wizarding world he is trying to protect.

He was more jealous of Harry than he let on
It was easy to miss because Draco didn't often show his emotions, modelling himself on his cold, confident, calculating father, but J.K. Rowling has confirmed that a lot of his enmity towards Harry stemmed from envy.
In the first movie the the scene of the troll you can see that snape has a bleeding leg, why? Snape was bitten by Fluffy the three headed dog. When Troll was released, he went to make sure that no one was after the stone as everyone was distracted by the troll.
"Lily! After all this time?" he asked and "Always," replied Snape. Snape having the same Patronus, the doe, as Lily symbolized his everlasting love and unwavering devotion towards her. He hadn't stopped loving her after their last altercation, marriage to James Potter, or death.
The Cruciatus Curse inflicts excruciating pain on the victim and is used to torture them. The Killing Curse, as might be evident from the name, kills. Casting this spell on a victim causes them to instantly (albeit painlessly) die.
